PL* ART Recycled Plastics Workshop

Saturday March 30, 2024 | 10 am - 2 pm

Cost including materials $75 | limited to 10 participants

Frustrated by the amount of single-use, post-consumer plastic bags and packaging that stream through your life? Now you can turn it into art. This class will give you the basics of PL*ART, plastic art. You will learn how to fuse layers of plastic together to transform everyday recycling into something beautiful. There will be demonstrations, and you will learn the best plastic bags and packaging to use, and which to stay away from. You will learn to make the basic material from which all PL*ART is created. Materials, including a frame with mat for your favorite masterpiece, are included. You will need to bring an iron and a small paperback book. We encourage you to bring some of your own plastic fruit, veg, bread, newspaper, shopping, etc, bags to use, although we have plenty!

 

$75 including materials.

Nature Meets Design: A Media Workshop with Hannah Burnworth

Saturday April 13, 2024 | 10 am - 2 pm

Cost including materials $95 | limited to 12 participants 

Join us for day of paper printing, snipping, and stitching. Begin with simple templates based in design and nature, or create your own template for a final composition. Learn to mix and match color and texture through collage and add stitching to your pieces to add another element. All materials will be provided, including a frame for your finished piece. Participants are encouraged to bring decorative papers or cutting tools if you wish. All ability levels welcome.

 

Hannah Burnworth is the artist behind Milk House Studio. Burnworth has degrees in both art education and studio art. She has been teaching art in Indiana public schools and through private workshops for over 18 years. In addition to teaching, Burnworth loves to create all things paper. Her collage, paintings and paper sculpture celebrate creativity and design, bringing together a love for texture, color, nature and the beauty of everyday life. Burnworth resides in Indiana, where she has shown her work both regionally and nationally. Her most recent solo show was at Artlink Gallery in Ft Wayne, IN. She was also recently published in the Stampington Press Publication Sew Somerset, the contemporary collage publication Making the Cut, Vol 1, as well as Cloth Paper Scissors.

Found Object Mosaic Workshop with Lisa Vetter

Saturday May 11 & Sunday May 12, 2024 | 10 am - 2 pm (both days) 

Cost including materials $13

This two day workshop will provide you with the basic knowledge for creating a found object mosaic with a small scale project.  On Saturday we learn the process of adhering found materials including pottery shards, game pieces, stones, buttons, grandma's chipped china, etc. On Sunday, after your work has cured overnight, we will learn the process of grouting all those odds and ends that together create your mosaic masterpiece!

This workshop requires a minimum of 8 participants and maximum of 12. Once we have commitments from participants we will make seats available for purchase.  Please email the studio at art.farm@sbcglobal.net to add your name to the list.

Talisman Jewelry Workshops with Lisa Vetter 

Wednesday April 26, 2023 | 10 am - 2 pm

cost including materials $95 | limited to 10 participants per day

 

Start gathering all your old charms, single earrings, heirloom jewels, trinkets, special beads, “found” objects i.e. coins from travels, buttons, keys, game pieces, etc.   Anything metal, wood, or plastic can be drilled and turned into a charm. When we use these personal mementos and place them in a context to honor their power as a symbol, we create our own talisman.  Materials include: sterling silver chain,  findings for attaching your items, and beading supplies.   We will use a basic layout design which may be altered or embellished depending on your personal preference.  Tools are provided, if you have your own please bring them.

Plein Air Painting Workshop with Randall Scott Harden & John C. Kelty

Join Plein Air artists Randall Scott Harden (acrylics/oils) and John C. Kelty (watercolors) for an informative and enlightening day of plein air painting instruction. These incredibly talented artists will share their wealth of knowledge regarding subject matter, composition, and expression in the art of plein air painting. When purchasing your space in the workshop please select your preference for acrylic with Randall or watercolor with John. 

 

Randall's keen eye and lighthearted approach guarantee a day of learning and expanding your painting skills. Randall has conducted numerous plein air workshops most notably in France and Italy as well as right here in his home state of Indiana!  For a list of materials needed please visit this link to Randall's website where you will find a detailed list. 

 

John Kelty is widely known for his amazing watercolor plein air paintings.  He is a member of the Watercolor Society of Indiana, the American Watercolor Society, the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association and is the past president and current board member of the Fort Wayne Artists Guild.

Hone your watercolor skills with John or opt to work with Randall using acrylics or oils. 

Women's Wellness Workshop

Thursday May 12, 2022 | 10 am - 4:00 pm  

Cost is $95 | limited to 16 participants 

Sandy Gebhard will be instructing Tai Chi, Holly Sutter will present her wealth of knowledge in holistic healing, Mimi Gonzalez will conduct a writing workshop and Jeannie Porter of Queenies Catering will be doing our lunch and sharing her culinary tips. 2D Mixed Media workshops with Susan Kline

Enjoy creating with award winning artist Susan Kline!  With her unfailing sense of humor and creative expertise you will be guided through the process of creating your own mixed media work of art.  All materials, will be provided although participants are encouraged to bring their own ephemera.  Susan has published over 25 instructional art books and her instructions have been featured in a number of specialty craft magazine publications.  She travels extensively doing juried art fairs.

This years workshop project will be a Gratitude Totem on a 2 1/2" x 36" wood base.  

Basic Wire Work Jewelry Workshops with Lisa Vetter

I've often been asked about doing a wire working workshop so here we go!  Using basic tools, wire and beads you will learn how to create links as well as a toggle fastener.  Your project may be a necklace similar to the piece pictured or a bracelet.  All materials will be provided but you are encouraged to bring your own special beads including a feature bead for the drop on the necklace.  We will begin learning with copper wire.  If you would like to use sterling that will be available for an additional fee.

Cancellations one week or less prior to the workshop will result in a forfeit of your payment.  Should you need to cancel and your seat can be filled, 50% of your payment may be applied to a future workshop.  Thank you for your understanding.
